31-DAY READING PLAN
The Nature of Wisdom: Proverbs
Starting August 1, we will be launching a Proverb’s Reading Plan. Everyday we will be reading another chapter of Proverbs together. Fill out the form below to sign up for the daily prompts!

-
Complete a simple household chore that a family member or housemate would appreciate. (Live alone? Do it as an act of worship to the God who has provided for you.)
-
Keep track of the people you interact with today. Write their names down. Before bed, take 5 minutes to pray for the list of names. (Co-workers, customers, online interactions, friends, family, etc.)
-
Declutter your inbox by unsubscribing from at least five promotional emails that you never read or need.
-
Find a moment to pause today and ask God, what are you trying to teach me through my job/role/season of life?
-
Be intentional about taking a break today. In order to work our best, we must also rest. (Can be as simple as going for a walk, watching a movie, downtime with family).
-
Affirm someone today. Take notice of something they did well and let them know you appreciate them. (“You are a hard worker and it doesn’t go unnoticed.” “I love your energy.” “You make our world better by...”)
-
Offer to bring a beverage to a coworker or housemate. Work from home or live alone? Venmo a few bucks or send an e-gift card to someone for a coffee on you!
-
This evening, journal about 3 things you accomplished today — big or small — and reflect on why they mattered.
-
Say “thank you” to someone you are often at odds with. The people we disagree with may be our biggest teachers. Find a reason to thank them for something today.
-
If you experience stress while working today, seek stillness for a moment. Focus on breathing deep and recentering yourself. “Be still and know that I am God.” - Psalm 46:10
-
Read Genesis 1:26-28. Reflect on what it means to be made in the likeness of God and why it’s our responsibility to be stewards of the earth.
-
Sift through your household items and pick at least 5 items to give away.
-
Take note of the moments during today’s sermon that resonated with you. In what ways can you practice it in your daily work life?
-
Leave a post-it note of appreciation on the mailbox or garbage can for the essential workers. Remind them that what they do matters.
-
Ask a coworker, “What’s on your mind?” Truly listen and engage with their response. If you work alone, ask your family, client, or customer.
-
Get started on that thing you’ve been putting off. Do it knowing your future self will be grateful you did it.
-
This evening, journal about something that has frustrated you this week, whether it’s at work or at home. Ask God for his peace as you navigate things.
-
Reach out to a friend who has been having a stressful time in life. Encourage them and affirm why they are valued as a person.
-
Take time today to research local volunteer opportunities to serve the community. Pick 1 day in your calendar to commit to. (If you’re interested in our TFH community initiatives, visit tfhny.org/outreach.)
-
If you happen to be out and about today, notice if you see a piece of litter on the ground. Collect it and throw it away.
-
If you feel overwhelmed today, consider delaying a task, saying no, or compromising on an imperfect outcome to protect your peace.
-
Take extra care of your body today, however that looks for you. Drink more water. Stretch. Exercise. Take a bath. Floss your teeth. Go to bed a little earlier.
-
Send an encouraging message to someone who does a lot of hard work behind the scenes.
-
Open scripture and read Ecclesiastes 11:6. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what these words may mean for you today.
-
Consider ways you can serve someone in a new way. Like giving a ride to a coworker, doing a yard chore for an older homeowner, buying the coffee order for the person behind you, or babysitting for a family who needs a break.
-
Find time for a hobby today. Bake, build, create, read a book, play an instrument, go for a hike, etc — anythingthat sparks joy.
-
Hold onto the list of food drive items you received in church today. Consider adding these items to your next grocery run. Download list here.
-
Unplug as much as you can today. Put your phone on silent or in another room. Try to stay focused on who is around you.
-
Seek out help in an area you are new at or struggling with. We aren’t meant to figure everything out on our own.
-
Be mindful to pray throughout your work day today. Ask God for the grace and wisdom to complete each task effectively. If you can make it, join us for Prayer at 6pm at 692 Paul Rd!
-
Journal about how your perspective shifted this month on what it looks like for you to practice worshipful work. Rewatch the Emmanual Labor messages on our YouTube Channel!
